Thu 10, 8pm, ALEXIO & Shades of Black, soulful urban grooves taking Zimbabwe by storm!  Top-selling artist with his latest CD ‘Tose’, supported by emerging young singer/songwriter and bandleader TINA WATYOKA, cc$7

 

Fri 11, 8pm, VICTOR KUNONGA rising Zimbabwean star and soulful champion for peace, opening with Brian & The Blue Band  cc$10

 

Sat 12, 2pm, HOUSE OF HUNGER POETRY SLAM – Harare’s premier poetry platform, with special surprise guest from beyond our borders!  All poets welcome to register with MC before 2pm  cc$1

 

Sat 12, 5pm, TRYBE AFRIKA – Exciting and energetic polyrhythms in Afro Pop emerging from the Open Mic programme! -  cc$3

 

Sat 12, 8pm, JAZZ INVITATION with diverse flavours of Hot! Jazz from straight traditional and modern jazz to afro, funk and r&b crossovers, their own much-loved originals and a sneak preview of tunes from their second CD Tsoka which is on the brink of release - it’s going to be a red-hot delivery - back-to-back with Filbert Marova (keyb) and his fresh new ensemble, ‘BLAQBERRY’.

 

Mon 14, 6-9pm, BOOK CAFÉ OPEN MIC, Music, dance, poetry, comedy – whatever your passion, come jam!  Harare's longest-running platform for young artists; great new acts and many surprises - cc$2.  All artists welcome!  Register with MC before 6pm.

 

Tue 15, 8pm, MATTHIAS JULIUS & X-VYBEZ – Farewell party!

 

Wed 16, 6pm, FREE FILM SCREENING – “Sun, Steel, Spray: a history of the Victoria Falls Bridge”. This exciting local documentary film, directed by Tom Deuschle III, was screened at ZIFF 2011 and we are proud to present it at our Wednesday Film Club as part of our ‘Let’s Support Local Film’ initiative. Don’t miss it!

           

Wed 16, 8pm, MICINITY - Weddy Wednesday to lovaz rock reggae with Mic and the Hotta Fyah band – hotta than eva befo!  + Supported by Dadza D

 

Thu 17, 8pm, ALEXIO & Shades of Black, soulful urban grooves topping charts, and taking Zimbabwe by storm (and even copied by artists as far as China!)  With his iconic hit ‘Shaina’ and fresh originals from his latest CD ‘Tose’.

 

Fri 18, 5.30pm, ‘THE LIFE & WORK OF WALTER MUPARUTSA’ – a gathering of friends in the cultural sector to commemorate and celebrate the life of the late actor, writer, producer and promoter Walter Muparutsa - a true example of dedication, commitment, selflessness, courage and passion, who contributed strongly to the development of the Zimbabwe’s arts and culture sector and whose impact was felt in Zimbabwe and many parts of the world which he travelled.  Presentations by Daves Guzha, Andrew Whaley, Ray Mawerera and Elvas Mari (National Arts Council of Zimbabwe), with Peter Churu.  FREE, ALL WELCOME

 

Fri 18, 8pm, NYAMASVISVA neMAWUNGIRA ENHARIRA, a mesmerizing mbira performance with dance and drumming in the true tradition.

 

Sat 19, 2-7pm, SISTAZ OPEN MIC – A special platform for aspiring women artists to come out and do their thang – song, dance, poetry, comedy: this is your space, come and claim it!  Expect fun and value entertainment from women of Zimbabwe.   To perform, Register with the MC before 2pm.
